The Sony E-Mount 2.0x Teleconverter (SEL20TC) is a compact optical extender designed to double the focal length of compatible Sony E-mount telephoto lenses. Thanks to its 2.0× magnification, a compatible 200-600mm lens becomes a 400-1200mm lens. As a result, it provides exceptional reach for wildlife, sports, nature, and other distant subjects.

Moreover, the teleconverter maintains communication between the camera and compatible lens. Therefore, key functions such as autofocus, exposure control, and image stabilization remain available when supported by the camera and lens combination. In addition, EXIF information continues to reflect the extended focal length and aperture.

However, using a 2.0× teleconverter reduces the maximum aperture by two stops. For example, the Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS becomes an effective 400-1200mm f/11-13 lens. Because of this, the teleconverter works best when additional reach is more important than maximum light transmission.

Furthermore, Sony designed the SEL20TC to complement selected G Master and G-series telephoto lenses while maintaining high optical performance. Its compact, lightweight construction also adds significantly less bulk than carrying an additional extreme telephoto lens.
